The former officer of SBU Valentin Kryzhanovsky suspected of illegal sale to party of zirconium and hafnium, let out from - under guards.
The decision to change to it a measure of restraint in the form of detention which was chosen by Pechersky district court of Kiev, on recognizance not to leave was accepted the investigator still on October 13 - "in connection with expiration of a former measure of restraint", the head explained a press - services of the State Office of Public Prosecutor Yury Boychenko. "Considered that it was earlier under arrest and as total period of detention expired, the investigator made the decision on change to it measures of restraint", - mister Boychenko told.
It should be noted that to mister Kryzhanovsky of a measure of restraint in the form of detention for up to two months the Pechersky regional court of Kiev made the decision on election in the last dates of August; Valentin Kryzhanovsky near the building of the State Office of Public Prosecutor was detained on August 26.
We will remind, the former colonel of SBU was put on the international wanted list in 2005. It suspect of commission of the crimes provided by h. 3 Art. 364 ("abuse of power or official position employee of law enforcement agency"; it is punished by imprisonment for a period of up to 10 years with property confiscation) and h. 4 Art. 189 of UK ("extortion"; it is punished by imprisonment for a period of up to 12 years with property confiscation). Charges according to Art. 364 were brought to mister Kryzhanovsky within case of illegal sale of party of zirconium and the hafnium excited by SBU in November, 2004. Then Valentin Kryzhanovsky, working as the assistant to the chief of Head department "K" of SBU (fight against corruption and organized crime), I took the initiative to sell 1887 kg of zirconium and 794 kg of hafnium which were confiscated in Zakarpatye in 1992 and 12 years were stored in a SBU warehouse.
