The Minister of Defence of Ukraine Yury Lutsenko supports an exception of the Criminal code of punishment in the form of public works for traffic violation of the rules.
He declared it to journalists, making comments on the today's statement of the chairman of GAI department Sergey Kolomoyts concerning strengthening of responsibility for commission of drunk road accident, the correspondent of RBC - Ukraine reports.
According to Yu.Lutsenko, the main problem for today is that courts often pronounce "soft" sentences for breakers of rules of traffic who were at a wheel in a state of intoxication. He called a frank opening of the proposal of deputies to punish violators public works.
According to him, absence of the accounting of public works leads to avoidance of punishment of violators. "We consider that so-called public works need to be withdrawn as a punishment measure in all respects, and first of all under article which concerns commission of drunk road accident", - the minister noted. It gave an example that only 15% of detainees lose court of the right of driving.
"Such liberalism is very dangerous", - the minister told. The state for today in comparison with last year in Ukraine recorded 35% less cases of mortality owing to road accident, in particular this figure makes a minus of 2236 persons. Yu.Lutsenko noted that a year ago when the strengthened responsibility for violation of traffic regulations the State traffic inspectorate daily took effect detained 300-400 drunk drivers, in recent months this figure increased to 1300-1400.
