The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law No. 2281-1 "About modification of the Criminal code of Ukraine" (concerning responsibility for crimes based on racial, national or religious intolerance). 312 deputies voted for the relevant decision from 434 registered in a hall.
In particular, under the law, the deliberate actions directed on kindling of race, racial or religious hatred and hatred, on humiliation of national honor and advantage or offense of feelings of citizens in connection with their religious beliefs, and also direct or indirect restriction of the rights or establishment of straight lines or indirect privileges of citizens on signs of race, skin color, political, religious and other convictions, a floor, an ethnic and social origin, a property state, a residence, on language or other signs "are punished by a penalty from two hundred to five hundred free minima of the income of citizens or will restriction for up to five years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or to be engaged in a certain activity for up to three years or without such".
Also, it is established that the same actions combined with violence, deception or threats, and also made by the official "are punished by a penalty from five hundred to one thousand free minima of the income of citizens or imprisonment for a period of two till five years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or to be engaged in a certain activity for up to three years or without such".
Besides, the actions provided by parts of the first or second this article which were perfect the organized group of persons or entailed serious consequences "are punished by imprisonment for a period of five till eight years".
