"Faina's" seamen tried to take hostage the Somali pirates

Crew members of the Ukrainian vessel "Faina" attacked two of the Somali pirates holding a vessel, reported on Tuesday France Presse agency.

The representative of pirates told agency that incident happened the night before.

"Some crew members of the Ukrainian vessel behave badly. In the evening on Monday they tried to do harm to our two people. It is unacceptable, they are threatened by serious punishment", - the representative of the pirates, wished to remain unnamed told.

According to him, violent acts from crew of the Ukrainian vessel became for pirates surprise.

"Perhaps, some seamen became angry, and we feel the same, but our people never chose violence, it was provocation", - quotes words of the pirate agency.

The vessel "Faina" was captured by the Somali pirates on September 25. Onboard the bulk carrier there are 33 tanks T-72 and other arms, as a part of crew - 17 Ukrainians, and also Russians. At the end of November France Presse agency reported from the Somali capital of Mogadishu about achievement of the arrangement on vessel release. Later the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine declared that negotiation process was included in a closing stage, and assured that does everything possible for "Faina's" release.
