Ukraine takes 76-ое a place from 170 in the global report on the human development made by the UN.
Such statement was made today, on June 24, by the coordinator of system UN and the constant representative of the program of development of the UN in Ukraine Francis O'Donnell on a round table Human development and the European choice of Ukraine devoted to the new report of PROON on human development for 2008 which passes in Kiev.
The statistics testifies that "Ukraine strongly lags behind the countries to it similar, such as Russia, Belarus, Romania and even lags behind Albania and Macedonia", - he noted.
Among neighbors of Ukraine the highest indicators of economic development are shown by Poland (the 37th place), Slovakia (42), Belarus (the 64th place) and Russia (67). The lowest indicator - at Moldova (the 111th position).
According to O'Donnell, the main criteria of definition of human development were not only economy and education, but also medicine and the health care sphere.
"In Ukraine very sad situation in health sector. Expected life expectancy makes only 67,7 years", - the constant representative of the program of development of the UN in Ukraine told. He also told that probability of that the been born person will live till 60 years, makes only 74%, and 26% at all have no chances to reach this age.
"Health is the fundamental parameter of our research. The economy grows, the income grows, an education level also at high level, but from the point of view of a demography and health indicators the situation worsens. It is explained by HIV distribution on all territory of Ukraine, and in three cities of Kiev, Odessa, Nikolaev it even accepted character of epidemic", - O'Donnell speaks.
However, not everything is so bad. According to the report, Ukraine it was succeeded to make progress in reduction of absolute poverty, decrease in a death rate of mothers, and also newborns and children age till five years.
In the program the priority problems in which decision it is necessary to be engaged urgently are also specified.
