The international human rights organization Transparency International published the next report on corruption level in the world "A barometer of global corruption - 2009"
, in which Ukraine occupied the last step among "the new independent countries".
Research which presents public opinion concerning corruption, was carried out in 69 countries from October, 2008 to February, 2009. In its framework 73 thousand 132 persons were interrogated.
Marks were put down on a 5-mark scale, where 1 point - "the lowest level", and 5 - "highest".
Corruption level in Ukraine estimated at 4,3 points is the highest, that is the worst point among "the new independent countries" and all other countries as a whole.
Closest to Ukraine on level of corruption were Bosnia and Herzegovina - 4,2 points, Croatia - 4,1, Cameroon, Bulgaria and Romania - 4 points.
"Best of all" level of corruption estimated in Singapore - 2,2, Denmark - 2,4, Finland - 2,5, Kuwait - 2,5 and Holland - 2,6.
In the USA level of corruption estimated at 3,7 points, Canada - 3,2, Austria - 2,8, Great Britain - 3,3, Japan - 3,9, Armenia - 3,1, Azerbaijan - 3,3, Belarus - 3,4, Georgia - 3,1, Moldova - 3,5, Mongolia - 3,7 and Russia - 3,9.
According to research, almost every tenth of respondents bribed for last year that it is possible to compare to results of 2005.
Besides, four of ten who bribed, gave nearly 10% of the revenue.
Traditionally high level of corruption remains in the Middle East and in North Africa, in "the new independent countries" and in the bottom region of Sahara.
In Ukraine the most corrupted called public institutions - 28%, parliament - 25%, justice - 21%. Corruption level in business was estimated at 11%, by media - 2%.
On corruption level points were distributed as follows: government officials, justice and parliament - 4,5 points, political parties - 4,4. Corruption in business - 4,3, media - 3,8 points.
According to research, 21% from the interrogated Ukrainians or their relatives bribed during the last years.
Inefficient fight of the Ukrainian power against corruption is considered by 73% of the interrogated Ukrainians, any - 19% and 7% - effective.
