The antimonopoly committee initiated proceedings upon unreasonable rise in prices for lemons, onions and garlic. The acting as the chairman of AMKU Alexander Melnichenko told about it at a briefing.
"Began today investigation. Some businessmen decided that time came to earn on a flu epidemic... having used a situation which is in the country and that the Ukrainian families began to use more both garlic, and onions, and lemons, they sharply raised the prices of these goods", - he told.
Melnichenko noted that the investigation team is already created, the meeting is held and necessary instructions are given to heads of committee in regions.
He noted that AMKU got support of customs service regarding granting by it to committee of operational information about import of lemons.
Melnichenko emphasized that the economic bases for rise in prices for these products aren't present as didn't exchange neither transportation costs, nor what other expenses.
Concerning rise in prices levels in various regions, the head of committee told that now this information on the prices gathers on regions and will be provided at publication of the first results of investigation.
The committee on the matter began work with supermarkets and other directions of trade.
At establishment of violations of the antitrust law the penalty can make to 10% of commodity turnover of the subject of managing.
