The head of the UNP Nikolaev regional organization Yury Shirko commented on ecological aspect of development of the Ukrainian industry.
"Modernizations of the enterprises of the heavy industry today it is proved not only economic, but also ecological need. The decayed, power-intensive equipment of the Ukrainian heavy industry, first of all in metallurgy and the chemical sphere, any more only doesn't make profit, but also intensively pollutes environment", - the board member of the Ukrainian people's party Yury Shirko is convinced.
In his opinion, "at the moment it is necessary to modernize urgently the Ukrainian heavy industry in type of loan through system of the state banks to introduce energy saving and nature protection technologies".
Besides, he noted that "Ukraine takes the tenth place in the list of the countries of the Kyoto Protocol which in 2006 made the greatest emissions in the atmosphere of greenhouse gases".
"Production falling significantly won't influence reduction of harmful emissions, after all the enterprises still continue to work at the decayed equipment which pollutes environment", - the board member of UNP noted.
"In this case Ukraine loses not only opportunity to get profit on trade in quotas of harmful emissions, according to the Kyoto Protocol, but also itself will be compelled to buy them, - the politician claims. - Therefore there is a danger that the Ukrainian metallurgy can bury not only an economic crisis, but also short-sightedness of heads of the big enterprises which for many years refused to introduce energy saving and nature protection technologies".
