The European Commission notes that gas disputes between Russia and Ukraine don't promote reputation of both countries.
It was declared on Wednesday by the European Commission representative Ferran Tarradellas Espuni, transfers UNIAN.
"It already for the third time the similar problem is observed, and each time in the winter, when gas consumption the highest. And it, of course, doesn't promote reputation of Russia as the countries - the supplier, and Ukraine as transit country", - the European Commission representative told.
According to him, meetings of representatives of General management "Transport and Power" European Commissions with representatives "Gazprom" and Ukraine during which the European Commission urged both parties to find final solutions of a problem as soon as possible took place on December 9.
The European Commission also stated expectation that gas disputes between Ukraine and Russia won't influence supply of gas to Europe.
Tarradellas Espuni also reported that traditional meeting of the EU gas coordination group for assessment of the situation with supply of gas will take place on January 9.
It is known that during the stay in Brussels the representative of Gazprom Sergey Kupriyanov warned EU that the Ukrainian gas pipeline through which there passes the most part of gas to Europe, can work in the winter with interruptions from - for negligences of Ukraine.
Also the head of Gazprom Alexander Medvedev in interview of "Financial Times" declared that negotiations with Ukraine on repayment of debts and future gas prices are still far from achievement of the agreement.
