On extent of devaluation for the past 2008 the Ukrainian hryvnia took the second place in the world.

Most strongly devaluated for today such national currencies:
- Iceland krona - for 45,9%,
- the Ukrainian hryvnia - for 42,0%,
- the Polish zloty - for 41,3%,
- Australian dollar - for 34,6%,
- Russian ruble - for 34,5%.
We will remind, inflation in Ukraine following the results of 2008 I made 22,3% that is record-breaking high rate after 2000 when inflation reached 25,8%.
2008-й year Ukraine began with an official rate of dollar 5,05 hryvnias for dollar and an average cash selling rate of 5,08 hryvnias for dollar.
Such indicators (with small fluctuation of a cash course) remained for all first quarter 2008. In August the official rate of NBU even made 4,85 hryvnias for dollar, and for the end of December the hryvnia fell to 7,86 for dollar.
