Support by the President Yushchenko and the prime minister Tymoshenko of the joint declaration on modernization of the Ukrainian GTS was "an important signal not only for the European Union, but also for the whole world", the president of European Commission José Manuel Barroso considers.
He noted that leaders of Ukraine "completely support this declaration". "It was very important signal not only for Europe, but also for the whole world. EU is committed to Ukraine", - Barroso emphasized. According to the head of European Commission, signing of the joint declaration will allow "to us to move together forward in key tasks - transformations of the Ukrainian GTS and to bring this whole energy market into Europe".
Saying about current financially - an economic crisis and about that fact that Ukraine feels it rather strongly, the president of European Commission noted that the current difficulties demand unity and national responsibility both from political leaders, and from institutions.
"It is vital that Ukraine executed all actions in respect of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund", - he emphasized. "It for Ukraine - a national call, I call the President Yushchenko and the prime minister Tymoshenko to work to develop the legislation on crisis overcoming. We will support Ukraine as we trust in its future", - Barroso added.
