70% of the expensive medical equipment bought by the Ministry of health protection of Ukraine for the sum over 347 million UAH in 2007, don't work.
The chairman of the board, the adviser to the President of Ukraine Nikolay Polishchuk reported about it yesterday at meeting of National council concerning public health care.
Polishchuk sees the reasons of such situation in untimely supplies of equipment, unavailabilities of healthcare institutions to accept the medical equipment and unpreparedness of experts, transfers "ForUm".
"Purchase of the expensive equipment happens opaquely, priorities are insufficiently proved, at the same time, healthcare institutions aren't ready to work with it. Purchases in healthcare institutions of different forms of ownership are duplicated, and funds for post warranty service aren't present", - Polishchuk noticed.
He noted that since 2004 the equipment isn't put into operation on treatment of cancer patients and patients with tuberculosis for total amount of 10,516 million UAH
stillPolishchuk considers that the problem consists also in the annual growth of the amounts of financing of the Ukrainian medicine.
Members of National council discussed solutions of this problem and plan to address to the Cabinet of Ukraine with the recommendation to book audit of efficiency of use of the medical equipment in healthcare institutions of all departments over the last 5 years and only after that to plan purchases for 2009.
