The former speaker of Rada, the head of the association "Front of Changes" Arseniy Yatsenyuk intends to run for presidency of Ukraine. Yatsenyuk made such statement on Sunday, April 5, in interview to Inter TV channel.
According to Yatsenyuk, the answer to a question, whether it will propose the candidature at presidential elections, "and is so clear". "I think that it was necessary to wait for 35 years and to declare", - the head of the association "Front of Changes" told. The presidential candidate of Ukraine has to be not younger than 35 years, reminds Korrespondent.Net. To Yatsenyuk 35 years will be executed on May 22, 2009.
The head of the association "Front of Changes" characterized future presidential campaign as "fight of the past against the future". Thus he assumed that the forthcoming campaign will be "more intensive and aggressive", than fight for a post of the president in 2004.
According to Yatsenyuk, appointment as Rada of presidential election for October 25, 2009 "was exclusively political decision". The leader of "The front of changes" declared that isn't sure that "this date remains, but it is accurately clear: campaign started".
The parliament of Ukraine made on April 1 the decision on purpose of presidential elections for October 25, 2009. The president of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko, already declared that will appeal to the Constitutional court of the country to appeal against date of the presidential election appointed by the Verkhovna Rada. Yushchenko suggests to hold elections on January 17, 2010.
