Hungary is concerned by reduction of opportunities of representatives of the Hungarian community in Ukraine to be trained in the native language.
The President of Hungary László Sólyom reported about it after negotiations with the President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko at a briefing.
The president of Hungary emphasized that until recently the Ukrainian Hungarians had opportunity in places of compact accommodation to study at schools in the native language. However, according to him, introduction of system of testing of graduates of schools exclusively in Ukrainian reduces possibilities of Hungarians to continue training in the native language.
László Sólyom emphasized that for Hungarians it is very important to study in the native language, and qualitative textbooks are for this purpose necessary.
The president of Hungary reported that raised this question during a meeting with the Ukrainian colleague. According to him, Yushchenko answered that the question of receiving by Hungarians of education in the native language in places of their compact accommodation will be discussed and kept on continuous control by Ministers of Education of two countries.
Later Yushchenko added that the Ukrainian education system allows to provide needs of representatives of all ethnic minorities.
He noted that the Hungarian community in Ukraine has for today about 100 schools, newspapers in the Hungarian language are issued, there is a radio - and TV programs. Yushchenko assured that Ukraine and is ready to give further to representatives of the Hungarian community opportunities for ensuring their educational and cultural requirements.
