The president of Russia Dmitry Medvedev congratulated the president Victor Yushchenko on the Victory Day.
"This sacred holiday - a tribute to the memory of all who in cruel fight against fascism defended independence and the future of the Homeland, a symbol of deep respect for veterans of the Great Patriotic War and to home front workers", - it is told in a congratulation, reports a press - service of Embassy of Russia.
"It is sure that the people of Russia and Ukraine will always protect memory of a great victory, to resist to any attempts to copy and pervert our general history", - Medvedev noted.
The president of Russia wished "to the fraternal Ukrainian people and veterans of the Great Patriotic War of kind health and wellbeing".
Also the congratulations to the prime minister Yulia Timoshenko were sent by the prime minister of Russia Vladimir Putin.
"This victory was won by the huge, unreasonable price, thanks to unprecedented courage and heroism of all people which have risen in a uniform rush in defense of the Homeland", - is told in Putin's congratulation.
"It is sure that nobody will manage to pervert and bury in oblivion the centuries-old friendship tempered in the hardest tests and the general history of our states and the people", - the prime minister of Russia noted.
"I ask to report to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the home front workers living in the territory of Ukraine, a wish of a good health, happiness and wellbeing", - it is told in a congratulation.
