Russia is ready to take part and partially to finance modernization of the gas transmission system of Ukraine.
It was declared by the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergey Shmatko on Monday on a press - conferences, transfer "RIA Novosti news agency".
"We are ready to finance partially such activity", - Shmatko told, answering a question of possible participation in modernization of GTS of Ukraine.
Before Shmatko reported that Russia and Ukraine finish preparation of the intergovernmental cooperation agreement in the gas sphere, assuming participation of the Russian side in modernization of the Ukrainian GTS.
According to him, participation in modernization is provided both Russian, and Ukrainian by versions of the draft of the intergovernmental agreement.
By estimates of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, full modernization of the Ukrainian GTS can demand 10-12 billion dollars.
"I heard from the Ukrainian prime minister an assessment in 5-6 billion euro. By our estimates, this sum has to be twice more", - Shmatko told.
At the same time he emphasized that Russia won't join in the declaration of Ukraine and the European Union on modernization of the Ukrainian gas transmission system.
"It is the bilateral document, we don't see sense to join", - he told.
Ukraine signed on March 23 with the European Union following the results of the international conference in Brussels the joint declaration on modernization of the gas transmission system of Ukraine, counting on billion euro investments and promising to create the "transparent" gas market.
