In the third and fourth quarters 2009 it is possible to expect a rise in prices for gas, the vice-chairman of board of JSC Gazprom Alexander Medvedev considers.
"That rise in prices (on oil) which we observe in recent weeks, will be reflected and in the prices of oil products which enter our gas formulas. If this tendency remains, in the third and fourth quarter it is possible to expect that the prices will go up", - Medvedev on air of Ekho Moskvy radio station on Monday told.
Medvedev noted that "Gazprom" for the first time for this year recorded increase in demand for gas from the European consumers. "For the first time since the beginning of year of the demand of foreign buyers exceeded our expectations according to the schedule of deliveries", - he told.
Besides, Medvedev hoped that practice of timely payments of Ukraine for supply of gas will be continued. "It is possible to breathe sigh of relief that the next payment was made in full. We hope that this practice will be continued and contracts will work", - he declared.
The vice-chairman of board of "Gazprom" is convinced that the occasion to discuss failure of payments from now on "shouldn't be". "It would be boring to discuss all this if we over and over again didn't face risk of non-performance of these or those conditions of contracts from the Ukrainian colleagues. But passed five months of deliveries and transit. Despite all dangers, payments were made in time and in full", - it stated.
Making comments on a situation with a delay of payments for May supply of gas to Ukraine, Medvedev noted: "We went to applying penalties though we had such opportunity. But taking into account that difficult economic situation in which it appeared both Ukraine, and the company "Naftogaz", "Gazprom" met halfway".
Medvedev told also that in "Gazprom" don't support idea of transferring of points of sale of gas to the European consumers on the Ukrainian borders.
As it was reported, since the end of May of the power of Russia and heads of "Gazprom" repeatedly expressed doubts in ability of Ukraine in time to pay for the consumed gas.
