Yanukovych threatens not to allow to parliament to work in general

The party leader of regions Victor YANUKOVYCH declares that his political force will block work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine while the parliament won't adopt the law on modification of the state budget for 2009 concerning increase in a living wage and a minimum wage.

As the correspondent of the UNIAN reports, he declared it today during a business trip in Zaporozhye.

"We initiated this law. We consider that during crisis it is necessary to protect socially the population", - V. Yanukovych told.

Estimating a real economic situation in Ukraine, he noticed that inflation and rise in prices resulted in "extreme poverty of socially unprotected segments of the population".

As the party leader of regions noted, today fight against poverty is the main task which has to become priority for each political force, each politician. Therefore, according to V. Yanukovych, his political force raised this question very rigidly.

"The increase in a living wage and a minimum wage are we have to solve already at this session", - the party leader of regions emphasized.

In this regard it expressed confidence that "those fractions which didn't vote for this bill in the first reading, will oversleep today night because think, and tomorrow we will convince them".

"If we aren't able to convince, we won't allow in general to parliament to work, this law" won't be adopted yet, - V. Yanukovych declared.

As reported the UNIAN, today, on June 25. The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading the bill "About modification of the Law of Ukraine "About the State budget of Ukraine for 2009" (concerning the sizes of a living wage and the minimum wage size).

BYuT fraction didn't vote in full strength.

This bill provides to approve for 2009 a living wage on 1 person counting on a month of 808 UAH, since October 1 - 848 UAH, and for those who treats the main social and demographic groups of the population: children under 6 years - since July 1 of 727 UAH, since October 1 - 764 UAH; children aged from 6 till 18 years: since July 1 - 930 UAH., since October 1 - 987 UAH; able-bodied persons: since July 1 - 860 UAH, since October 1 - 900 UAH; the persons which have lost working capacity: since July 1 - 644 UAH, since October 1 - 674 UAH

Also the bill is provided to establish since July 1, 2009 the size of a minimum wage of 825 UAH, since October 1 - 864 UAH and since December 1 - 900 UAH a month.
