The State Duma of Russia urges to celebrate anniversary of the Poltava fight as "great date of the Russian and world history".
As the correspondent of the UNIAN reports, this resolution was supported by 375 Russian deputies.
"Deputies of the State Duma are full of a pride and profound gratitude to those who 300 years ago, without sparing the life, rose in defense of the Homeland - Peter the Great's names, the soldier, generals, "baby birds of a nest of Petrov", names of victorious regiments and heroism of Cossacks and inhabitants of Poltava won't be forgotten", - is spoken in the document. In it it is emphasized that "Ivan Mazepa's treachery which name became nominal won't be forgotten also, and it was anathematized by Russian Orthodox Church".
"Can't but surprise that in the leadership of Ukraine today there are the people seeing in change a sample for imitation and thus refusing to and the people in the historical right to be considered as descendants of winners of the Poltava fight", - is emphasized in the State Duma statement.
In it also it is reminded that the Poltava fight terminated "in defeat and capitulation of army of the Swedish king Karl XII".
Deputies of the State Duma consider important to draw attention of statesmen, the general public to a question of need adequately to celebrate anniversary of the Poltava fight which date is proclaimed in the Afternoon of military glory of Russia.
