Yesterday, on August 20, in Nikolaev in regional library of A. Gmyrev took place literaturno - the art evening devoted to the International day of Baikal.
As the head of department of affairs of nationalities of the regional state administrationtoldElena Ivashko, the regional society "Rusich" and society of the Buryat culture, while small, but very active and amicable became initiators and organizers of this action.
"Such actions promote world knowledge, and also friendship and tolerance, - considersElena Ivashko. - Here people who know gathered and love this corner of Earth and they seek to transfer this love to us".
The holiday Day of Baikal is founded in 1999 and since then it is noted annually on the fourth Sunday of August. Eventually the holiday received not only all-Russian, but also universal recognition. Many public actions, scientific, cultural, sporting events, creative competitions and quizes take place under the auspices of Day of Baikal during the whole year. Organizers of celebration of Day of Baikal in Nikolaev hope that similar actions become a good tradition and in our city. For this purpose even it was decided to create the new organization - "Baikal", soon it will be registered.
As the representative of society of Buryats in NikolaevtoldYulia Fedorenko, Day of Baikal in our city also will celebrate with an ecological action - on August 21 in volunteers will clear of garbage and a grass a ladder near Ingulsky Bridge, and then also the nearby territory (towards the Wild Garden).

Baikal- the lake of a tectonic origin in the southern part of Eastern Siberia, the deepest lake of a planet Earth, the largest natural tank of fresh water. The lake and coastal territories differ a unique variety of flora and fauna, the most part of types is endemic. Locals and many in Russia traditionally call Baikal the sea. Since 1956 the lake is a component of the Irkutsk (Baikal) reservoir of the long-term regulation formed by a dam of Irkutsk hydroelectric power station.
