Editors of the Dnepropetrovsk newspapers declare attempt of Party of Regions to enter censorship.

Three Dnepropetrovsk newspapers - "Faces", "Events" and "Time" - declare pressure upon them from the Dnepropetrovsk City Council. About it it is spoken in the open letter signed by editors of editions, published in mass media. In the center of scandal there was JSC SV owning booths on distribution of the press in key points of the regional center.

"The city authorities made everything in order that "SV" had no alternative: recent cleaning of the center of Dnepropetrovsk from the tents trading in the press - superfluous to that confirmation", - it is told in the open letter. As told to the correspondent of RBC - Ukraine the editor-in-chief of the Persons edition Alyona Garaguts, for entry into a network the management of "SV" makes out her edition a bill for the sum of 50 thousand UAH. The similar sum was sounded also by the editor of the Sobytiya weekly Vladimir Mamchenko. Other, loyal in the City Council to editions, according to editors, "SV" makes out a bill for the sum of 2-3 thousand UAH

Mediyshchiki consider that responsibility for the events lies on deputies from Party of Regions which heads in Dnepropetrovsk the City Council the majority. In particular, at the end of 2008 at sessions of the City Council the question of dismantle of booths of "SV" was brought up. However soon it was removed from the agenda - how there was a change of structure of founders of open company. According to the editor of the Vremya newspaper Mikhail Nazarov, the person close to the leader of the regional organization of Party of Regions to Oleg Tsarov became one of new co-owners of a network. "We successfully cooperated with JSC SV but when in the Vremya newspaper there was a critical material concerning Oleg Tsarov, "SV" refused to provide the booths for sale of our newspaper", - M. Nazarov explained.

Editors call for carrying out a round table with participation of the head of BP committee on a freedom of speech and Anna Hermann's information, devoted to threat to a freedom of speech in Dnepropetrovsk on the eve of an election of the president of Ukraine.

Weekly circulation of the editions "Events", "Time" (they are weeklies) and "Faces" (there are two times a week) makes about 100 thousand copies.Newspapers extend in Dnepropetrovsk and area.
