The Deputy head of the Secretariat of President Marín Stavniychuk declares that the European commission "For democracy through the right" the Council of Europe ("The Venetian commission") in the conclusions concerning the law on an election of the president of Ukraine expressed serious concern about the majority of norms and points of this law.

Stavniychuk noted that also Venetian commission paid attention to important aspects on settlement of presidential electoral laws according to democratic standards.
She added that the commission inclines to a position that separate provisions of the law on presidential elections have to be reconsidered.
"The commission notes that fact that at revision of the Law on an election of the president of Ukraine have to be considered and the previous comments of the European commission "For democracy through the right" concerning observance of electoral rules of electoral laws", - told Stavniychuk.
She noted that conclusions of the Venetian commission were drawn together with the parliamentary commission of the Organization on safety and cooperation in Europe.
Stavniychuk added that the Venetian commission and the parliamentary commission of OSCE are ready to give help to Ukraine in efforts on reduction of electoral laws to democratic standards and obligations which Ukraine assumed before OSCE and the Council of Europe.
On September 8 the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Vladimir Litvin signed the law on reduction of terms of campaign for presidential elections from 120 to 90 days
Earlier this law was vetoed by the President Victor Yushchenko, however on August 21 Rada overcame Yushchenko's veto to this law.
The European commission created in 1990 for democracy through the right - better known as the Venetian commission - is advisory body of the Council of Europe in the field of the constitutional legislation.
