On It is southern - the Ukrainian nuclear power plant there began work IAEA mission, reports a press - service of Ministry of Fuel and Energy. From November 2 to November 9 experts of IAEA and the European commission will execute check of level of operational safety on nuclear power plant power units No. 1 and 2 YuU. Mission of OSART will take place in the reduced volume.
The previous mission of IAEA took place on YuU nuclear power plant on October 14 this year.
Planned, 154-I OSART mission, am carried out by the invitation of the government of Ukraine. IAEA carries out such inspections regularly since August, 1983. At first they were focused on providing the help to member countries of the International agency on atomic energy on increase of safety of operation of the separate nuclear power plants, and also on assistance of continuous growth of safety of operation of stations by distribution of information on positive experience.
During OSART program existence in different member countries of IAEA - 153 inspections of operational safety of the nuclear power plant are carried out. In total on the Ukrainian nuclear power plants for the entire period of their work 13 missions of OSART took place. According to the Memorandum between Ukraine and the European Union concerning cooperation in the energy drink, signed by the President of the country in 2005, in the Nuclear Safety direction all domestic power units have to undergo independent testing.
YuU nuclear power plant - a basis Is southern - the Ukrainian power complex located in the south of Ukraine in the Nikolaev Region. It provides needs for electric energy of the region with more than five-million population. A part of a power complex are: It is southern - the Ukrainian nuclear power plant (3 nuclear power units with a total power of 3000 MWt), Aleksandrovsky hydroelectric power station on the river the Southern Bug (2 hydrounits, the total power of 11,5 MWt) and Tashlyksky pumped storage power plant (in a construction stage; the first stage is put into operation: 2 hydrounits total power in a generating mode of 320 MWt).
