The president of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko declares again that placement of the Russian Black Sea fleet in the Ukrainian territory is a destabilizing factor for Ukraine.
"Stay of the Russian Black Sea fleet is a destabilizing factor for our nation", - Yushchenko told, acting on celebrations on the occasion of 18-й anniversaries of the All-Ukrainian referendum a course on Tuesday in Kiev.
He emphasized that observance of the agreement on a conclusion of the Black Sea fleet of the territory of Ukraine in 2017 - "it not policy against Russia, is policy for stabilization of Ukraine".
The agreement on the status and conditions of stay of the Black Sea fleet of Russia in the territory of Ukraine between Moscow and Kiev was signed on May 28, 1997. Arrangements provide rent of base by Russia in Sevastopol for 20 years till 2017 with possible extension.
The Ukrainian management opposes validity extension.
Basic agreements with Ukraine of 1997 determine the right of Russia to hold in the Crimea and Sevastopol over 100 fighting ships of classes necessary for it and projects and to 25 thousand military personnel by the Black Sea fleet. Now the number of the BSF of the Russian Federation makes about 18,5 thousand people. By data for January, as a part of the BSF 34 fighting units are. Nevertheless, Yushchenko in November supported that Russia didn't strengthen military presence of the BSF in the Crimea.
