"It isn't necessary to cancel visas with Ukraine - from this country to Israel there arrive all prostitutes and dealers in women". Such statement was made on December 29 by the Minister of Internal Affairs Elie Ichaille, reports the Israeli site KURSOR.co.il with reference to Kohl Israel radio station.
"When the issue of cancellation of visas to the Russian tourists was resolved, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the ministry of internal security declared that the most problematic country in the sphere of a slave trade and prostitution is Ukraine. For this reason I against cancellation of visas to the Ukrainian tourists that can lead to sharp increase in number of prostitutes and illegal workers in the territory of Israel", - declared Ishaya.
The statement of Ishaya caused a sharp protest of other deputies of the Knesset. So the head of opposition Tzipi Livni declared that "similar offensive statements and the generalizations touching the whole community, - are inadmissible".
The initiative to cancel visas with Ukraine belongs to the minister of tourism Stas Misezhnikov. We will remind that cancellation of visas with Russia led to sharp increase in tourists from Russia to Israel - from 80 thousand in 2008 to 400 thousand in 2009.
It is expected that cancellation of visas with Ukraine also will lead to similar indicators. According to Misezhnikov, the number of tourists from Ukraine will increase with 70 to 200 thousand a year.
