The prime minister - the minister of Ukraine Nikolay AZAROV declares need of carrying out recertification of higher education institutions.
As the correspondent of the UNIAN reports, N. Azarov declared it today on enlarged meeting of the government concerning education.
"In comparison with 90 - m year, quantity of higher educational institutions increased by 2,3 times. We have as a whole 861 higher educational institutions, 2,6 million students. As a result of such absolutely inadequate growth we received a dreadful disease - reproduction of laymans", - N. Azarov told.
According to him, against economic falling last year for 15% in Ukraine there were "whole armies of economists, managers, lawyers, psychologists".
"From where at us the necessary number of the qualified teachers for these experts could undertake? What experts they could train? For whom they teach them? This problem demands more effective systems and requirements to quality of the higher education. First of all, it is necessary to carry out certification of higher educational institutions on compliance to modern requirements to the higher education and to carry out an assessment of quality of the knowledge gained by graduates", - the prime minister - the minister summarized.
N. Azarov also considers as the main task of the government of improvement of quality of education.
"The president of Ukraine set the accurate task - for ten years at least three Ukrainian universities have to enter a world rating of 500 best higher educational institutions. We have to carry out this task with you", - he emphasized.
As reported the UNIAN, on August 26 at meeting of Public humanitarian council the President of Ukraine Victor YANUKOVYCH declared that Ukraine doesn't need an available large number of institutions of education.
The head of state provided data that today in Ukraine there are, in particular, more than 15 thousand preschool institutions, about 20 thousand comprehensive schools, 990 is professional - technical educational institutions and 861 higher educational institutions.
According to V. Yanukovych, any of educational reforms in previous years wasn't realized in full volume and had no system character.
