Russia curtails trade cooperation with Ukraine.
On a wave of the governmental slogan: "The Russian freights - to the Russian ports" the country reduces transit volumes through the Ukrainian ports. So, volumes of transfer of the Russian freights through the ports of Ukraine and Baltic for the first time for some years decreased in the first half of the year 2008 by 2,1%.
According to vice-the prime minister of Russia Sergey Ivanov, until the end of this year large reloading complexes will be put in operation in Russian Ust - Luga, Vanino and Suburban. These ports, capable to overwork to 56 million tons of freights a year, also will be urged to replace the Ukrainian and Baltic partners.
Domestic seaports on - to a miscellaneous react to such policy. Ex-the director "Ukrmorporta" Sergey Klimov told that at transit practically all large Ukrainian ports there is a share of the Russian freight. "Work of port of "Youzhny" is almost completely constructed on the Russian freight. Under all laws of logistics, it is most attractive to them", - Klimov explains.
Representatives of the Ukrainian trade ports declare that reduction of the Russian transit won't affect them, and will be rather unprofitable to Russia. "The Russian freights which go through the Ukrainian ports - compelled. It is economically unprofitable freight, say, from Israel to carry to the Russian ports across the Baltic Sea", - explained in the Odessa port.
According to official figures, volumes of the Russian cargo export through the port of Odessa in 2008 significantly I decreased: about 1,66 million dry freights 2007 prior to 257 thousand tons in 7 months of year current. At the same time, according to the employee of the Odessa port, losses it doesn't yield to port. "Cargo handling at us increases - every month we grow in comparison with 2007. That is the Russian freights have no special impact on our productivity in spite of the fact that their export already fell", - are sure of port.
In turn, the deputy chief of the Nikolaev port Sergey Koltypin claims that at this stage heavy to predict consequences from reduction for port. "We work with the Russian coal, but I don't think that on it volumes will be reduced. It not the high-tariff goods - will fight for it nobody", - Koltypin considers. Now the Russian transit of the Nikolaev port makes approximately 20% of all goods turnover of the enterprise.
152 million tons of foreign freights processed the Ukrainian ports in 2007.
