The coordination council of the public ecological organizations of the Crimea declares threat of repeated pollution of the Strait of Kerch of the fuel oil which has been thrown out on the island the Spit of Tuzla after crash of the ships in the Black Sea in November of last year.
It on a press - conferences in Simferopol were declared by the chairman of coordination council Victor Tarasenko.
According to him, the fuel oil which has been thrown out in the sea after accident of vessels, still isn't cleaned from Tuzla.
"The other day I visited Tuzla with group of the Crimean scientists and was convinced that all internal lakes of the island - about 20% of its area - are polluted by fuel oil which is in all falls of a relief as in open form, and under a small 10-15-centimetric layer of sand", - he told.
According to the ecologist, Hugo - east part of Tuzla is actively washed away by a powerful current and from - for whole gales integrity of ferroconcrete strengthening of the island is broken.
Tarasenko noted that strengthening constructions of the island demand serious reconstruction.
"In case of destruction of the island and break of sea waves in its internal part there will be a washing away of several honeycombs tons of fuel oil to the subsequent repeated pollution of the Strait of Kerch", - Tarasenko declared.
The coordination council appealed to the President Victor Yushchenko to give an assignment to the Ministry of protection of surrounding environment to prepare and provide financing of the program of completion of elimination of consequences of accident in the Strait of Kerch on November 11, 2007.
Ecologists note that the program has to include monitoring of extent of residual pollution of the territory and the water area of the Strait of Kerch and action for strengthening of the coast of the island of Tuzla.
