Yanukovych insists on a referendum on NATO

The Party of Regions insists on holding an All-Ukrainian referendum about the entry of Ukraine into NATO. It on the LOT TV channel air in Lugansk was declared by the party leader of regions Victor Yanukovych.

"We at this stage would like to hold an All-Ukrainian referendum. To learn where sees the Ukrainian people Ukraine - in NATO or as the extra block state. If BYuT agrees with our offer, it can remove one of questions on which we with them have disagreements", - the party leader of regions told.

Thus Yanukovych emphasized that very well remembers how at the beginning of this year the President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko, the prime minister - the minister Yulia Timoshenko and the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Arseniy Yatsenyuk signed the letter to NATO management about accession of Ukraine to the Plan of action concerning membership in Alliance, transfers "UNIAN".

"And this question wasn't considered neither in the government, nor in parliament. You well remember our protest actions. We categorically against that Ukraine involved in NATO, without having learned opinion of the Ukrainian people. In spite of the fact that we with BYuT stand on different positions concerning NATO, but we would agree to hold a referendum at this stage. But, I think that to BYuT to it won't go", - he noted.

As reported ForUm, Yanukovych declared that the Party of Regions can create the coalition with Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc if finds compromises concerning NATO and Russian.
