V. Yushchenko: The new agreement between Ukraine and EU will be signed in the spring of 2009

The president of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko hopes that in 7-8 months, during presidency of Sweden in the European Union, the agreement on the associated membership of Ukraine in EU will be signed. He declared it today on joint performance with the king of Sweden Karl XVI Gustaf, the correspondent of RBC - Ukraine reports. "We have remarkable relations. We created the good agenda, held applied negotiations", - he told.

V. Yushchenko noted also that for today the agreement on the associated membership in EU "is worked almost half".

The head of state reported also that during a today's meeting with the king of Sweden he asked the last to send to Ukraine delegation on celebration 350 - the anniversaries of defense Baturina.

Earlier the head of the Ukrainian state predicted that the agreement on the associated membership of Ukraine in EU will be signed in the second half of 2009

In July of this year the president of France presiding in EU Nicolas Sarkozy declared that the new agreement which will succeed the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement of 1994 between Ukraine and the European Union, "will designate a new era in development of the relations of Ukraine and EU". According to him, this document "will allow to strengthen cooperation in all spheres of common interests-in political dialogue, international policy and a security policy, economy and cooperation in the power sphere, safety and legality, including a visa question and strengthening of joint institutions".

As it was reported, Ukraine has chances to join the European Union not earlier than 2020
