Ukraine insists on the "Soviet" borders with Russia

Today attempts of the Russian Federation to transfer border in the Strait of Kerch towards Ukraine are observed.

On Monday at a briefing I declared a press it - the secretary the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasily Kirilich, reports Лига.net.

Making comments on the statement of the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov that Russia doesn't move frontier across the Strait of Kerch because it there isn't present, Kirilich reminded that the border in the Strait of Kerch was established between USSR and RSFSR.

The diplomat emphasized that this border was defined according to the Soviet legislation.

Besides, the border was put on topographic maps of the General Staff of the USSR, certified by signatures of authorized officials and the stamp seals of two former republics.

Kirilich emphasized that on December 8, 1991 Ukraine and Russia recognized, according to norms of international law, territorial integrity of each other and firmness of existing borders.

Also it reminded that in 1997, signing the political contract with Ukraine, Russia once again confirmed firmness of existing borders.

Kirilich expressed a regret that today the management the Russian Foreign Ministry doesn't remember the above-mentioned facts.

"Now Russia draws on transfer of this border in the Strait of Kerch towards Ukraine on Ukrainian Kerch - the Enikalsky channel", - he emphasized.

It is known that Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov called untrue statements of the Ukrainian party that Russia tries to take away part of the territory of Ukraine.
