The ministry of transport and communication of Ukraine initiated monthly increase of tariffs for transportation of passengers by rail this year.
As the correspondent of the UNIAN reports, at a briefing the Minister of Transport and communications Iosif VINSKY reported today about it.
"Since March, increase will make 1,5%, then monthly on 3%, and in the end of the year (in December - the UNIAN) - again 1,5%", - were noted by the minister.
According to him, he already filed the relevant documents to all involved ministries and departments, they are being approved.
At the same time I.VINSKIY emphasized that increase won't concern journey in the general cars. "We don't touch the general cars", - he told.
Earlier Ministry of Transport suggested to raise tariffs for passenger rail transportation in 2009 step by step for 25%: for 10% - in January, then quarterly on 5%.
At meeting in the Ministry of transport and communication of Ukraine concerning tariff policy of "Ukrzaliznytsi" in January the decision according to which, chiefs of the railroads have to provide monthly indexation of tariffs for suburban transportations at the level of 3% of growth was made this year.
UNIAN reference. Since January 1, 2008 tariffs for transportation of passengers, baggage and cargo baggage by rail in the internal message increased by 8,7%. Since June 1, 2008 tariffs for railway transportations were raised for 5%. It concerns both reserved seat, and compartment cars, and also luxury cars. On July 22, 2008 the order of the Ministry of transport and communication No. 913 increased the cost of tickets for journey in trains for 5% since August 2 and for 5% - since October 1, 2008
In 2007 tariffs increased by 15% - on 5% since March 1, on May 1 and on July 1.
According to Mintranssvyaz, in 2008 the income of the railroads from passenger traffic made nearly 4 billion UAH, and expenses - more than 8,2 billion UAH
In the ministry note that annually losses from passenger traffic - in the internal, international and suburban message - tend to growth: in 2004 they made 1,8 billion UAH, in 2005 - nearly 2,2 billion UAH, in 2006 - 2,8 billion UAH, in 2007 - 4 billion UAH
