The president Victor Yushchenko appealed to the Constitutional Court with the petition for interpretation of powers of the Verkhovna Rada regarding dismissal from a position of the head of National Bank on representation of the president.

It was declared by the deputy head of the secretariat of president - his representative in the Constitutional Court and the Central Electoral Commission Marina Stavniychuk.

According to her, the basis for introduction of such constitutional representation are "practical need for official interpretation of the relevant provisions of the Constitution", and also circumstances of acceptance by the Verkhovna Rada of the resolution on National Bank activity during financial crisis.

"In connection with a difficult economic situation in the country and a difficult state in the financial sphere of our country, considering importance of the raised question, the president of Ukraine asks the Constitutional Court to consider this representation urgently", - told Stavniychuk.

Stavniychuk it is authorized to take part in the constitutional production on this representation.

It is known that last week the Verkhovna Rada cancelled the resolution on Vladimir Stelmakh's appointment as the head of NBU and conferred responsibility for a situation in the currency market on Yushchenko.
