Yushchenko demands from Stelmakh to punish banks which don't return deposits

The president Victor Yushchenko considers inadmissible refusal of banks of return of deposits.

About it there is a speech in the letter of the president to the head of National Bank Vladimir Stelmakh, reports a press - service of the head of state.

Yushchenko noted that recently receives numerous addresses of investors to which banks refuse deposit return in spite of the fact that the term for which the bank raised funds, passed.

"I want to emphasize inadmissibility of such actions of banking institutions in the conditions of a difficult financial situation. According to Art. 41 of the Constitution of Ukraine the property right is firm and nobody can be illegally deprived of the property right", - the president emphasized.

Yushchenko warned that emergence of situations when citizens are deprived of access to deposits on which return term came, creates the soil for a sharpening of social tension.

Besides, such actions of banks deepen problems of the clients, in particular what unemployments in the conditions of growth and falling of the real income of citizens, have an urgent need for these means.

"Now it is necessary to make common efforts of the regulator and banking institutions for trust restoration a banking system", - the president is convinced.

Yushchenko demands to establish the list of banks which allow not return or untimely return of means, violating conditions of deposit contracts, and to apply influence measures to these banks according to the current legislation.

The president also asks to take exhaustive measures concerning prevention further similar cases in the domestic market of banking services.
