Ukraine is happy with the decision of the International Court of Justice of the UN in the case of delimitation of a continental shelf and an exclusive economic zone between Ukraine and Romania in the Black Sea.
It was declared on Tuesday to journalists in the Hague by the deputy minister of foreign affairs of Ukraine Alexander Kupchishin.
"It is very important that in Ukrainian - the Romanian relations the last problem situation" is removed, - he told.
"The line is compromise, and the judgment is obligatory for both parties", - the deputy minister added.
Kupchishin also noted that the judgment according to which the island Snake was recognized as the island with the territorial sea in 12 nautical miles is very important.
At the same time, he told, the island Snake wasn't recognized as relevant circumstance for increase in an exclusive economic zone of Ukraine.
Kupchishin also added that now lawyers study a judgment, and therefore he can't provide other details. In particular, about the territory with oil and gas stocks on the Black Sea shelf which according to a judgment departed to Ukraine.
As it was reported, on Tuesday, February 3, the International Court of Justice in the Hague passed the decision in which marked out that the island. Snake can't be considered as part of the coastal line of Ukraine in definition of the median line at delimitation of a continental shelf and an exclusive economic zone.

At the same time Ukraine proved that the lake. Snake nevertheless is the island, and length of the Ukrainian part of the coast opposite to disputable territories makes 1058 km, and Romanian - 258 km.
Respectively, according to Ukraine, disputable territories of a shelf needed to be divided in a proportion 1 to 3: 53,3 thousand sq.km - beyond Ukraine, 21,9 thousand sq.km - beyond Romania.
The island Snake is the territory of Ukraine that is fixed in the contract on neighborliness and cooperation between Ukraine and Romania of 1997.
