For the first time in a collection of the Nikolaev zoo there was couple of Japanese cranes (Grus japonensis), reports a zoo.

Birds arrived from the Oka national biospheric park in which there is a crane nursery. Today the nursery is, perhaps, only place in Russia where it is possible to see at once all species of the Russian cranes. From seven species of cranes of the Russian fauna and disappearing four have the status of the rare: white crane, Japanese, daursky, black cranes.

Cranes - the largest birds of the Euroasian fauna. At many people of the world - freedom symbol. Cranes - exemplary family men, once having formed a married couple, more never leave.

The birds who have arrived to the Nikolaev zoo, are young (2007 year of birth) and are full of strength. Employees of a zoo hope that the next year it will be possible to see marriage dances in the early spring, and also to hear a solemn kurlykanye of these surprising birds. And the male of Chita and Ivota's female will have their first posterity.

Now the collection of a zoo contains five species of cranes.
