The metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine since the beginning of the current year continue to restore steel products outputs in comparison with sharp falling in the second half of the year of the past year. About it it was reported at balance meeting of representatives of the enterprises of an ore mining and smelting complex (MMC) of Ukraine in Dnepropetrovsk on Wednesday.
As the director general of Metallurgprom production association Vasily Harakhulakh reported at meeting, in January of the current year the output of cast iron made 1,867 million tons (62% to production of January, 2008), became - 2,123 million tons (58%), ready hire - 2,08 million tons (65%).
Thus he noted that in February outputs of steel products increased and now average about 70% in comparison previous year. In particular, average daily production of cast iron in January made 60,2 thousand tons, and in eight days of February - already 70,3 thousand tons.
The general director emphasized that at first the current year steel companies work steadily, though below indicators of last year.
According to its data, now from 43 existing blast furnaces in Ukraine in work is 28, and 15 - stand idle. In particular, seven of them are taken out of service, seven - are in overhaul.
Besides, from 21 existing converters in work are 15, and from 42 martin furnaces in work 19.
"In January the output increased in comparison with December a little", - Harakhulakh stated.
Thus he noted that "the market though is insignificant, but goes up".
The general director also reported that last month the enterprises were completely provided with iron ore raw materials and for 98% on the coke made from the Ukrainian raw materials, the rest was made from import coals.
Thus Harakhulakh added that in January and February Ukraine didn't import coke, but delivered being coked coal. In particular, since the beginning of year 330 thousand tons of being coked coals were delivered.
Harakhulakh also reported that in February of steel company of Ukraine intend to make 2,18 million tons of cast iron and 2,37 million tons became.
