"Such wars aren't planned", - he told in interview to the newspaper "Business" and to the Czech edition "Economic News" during the visit to the Czech Republic.

"Europe already understood: the problem which caused the January conflict, wasn't connected with a question of transit of gas through Ukraine. It was a question only of the Russian deliveries", - Yushchenko noted.

"I don't know at us the politician who would like to block the gas crane, after all it is one of our global priorities - that transit was high-quality, transparent. It also provides the mentioned contract. We want that our transit system was making part of the European market that deliveries were not only regular, but also qualitative", - he emphasized.

The president noted that negotiations with EU on investment in modernization of the Ukrainian gas transmission network "began three years ago, many meetings took place".

"The transit system should be adapted for its integration into the European market, and Ukraine could become the member of the European structures. It demands the whole preparatory process, for example in the legal sphere", - Yushchenko noted.

"The speech doesn't go about change of the owner of this system. It remains state ownership of Ukraine. It is a question of support of three international banking institutions - the European bank of reconstruction and development, the European investment bank and the World bank - in respect of their participation in modernization of this system", - he emphasized.

"It, of course, doesn't mean that we refuse other offers concerning cooperation in this sphere", - the president added.

Making comments on that the Russian delegation ahead of schedule left negotiations as allegedly it wasn't invited to document signing, and "Gazprom" management after that threatened to raise gas prices for Ukraine and Europe, Yushchenko told:

"Russia wasn't the participant of these negotiations, and therefore it is difficult to me to make comments on the Russian position. It is the bilateral contract. It concerns only a question of connection of our transit system to the European market".

"In it we reached a mutual consent. EU wants that this system was reliable and transparent, we also want that it was more effective", - the president of Ukraine emphasized.

The president Victor Yushchenko considers that the categorical position of Russia from - for joint declarations of Ukraine and the European Union on modernization of the Ukrainian gas transmission system won't lead to new to "a gas war" between Russia and Ukraine.
