The adviser the prime minister - the minister of Ukraine, ex-the rapporteur of PACE Hanne Severinsen urges the Ukrainian politicians not to change a way of election of the president of the country on the eve of the national elections planned for January.
So she commented on information of the Ukrainian mass media, about intention of BYuT and Party of Regions to change the constitution with that and to elect the president in parliament for power distribution among themselves, reports radio German wave.
"In Ukraine there is a problem of two centers of influence - the government and the president which powers need to be divided more accurately. But I doubt that it is necessary to do it on the eve of elections", - she declared.
"It is necessary to carry out broad public debate and to explain to the people, what problems will be solved by the constitutional changes", - Severinsen notes.
She also intends to take part in meeting of the Venetian commission in the middle of June of rather next constitutional changes offered by the president Yushchenko.
In her opinion, it is impossible to change the Constitution for power redistribution between certain political leaders.
Representatives of two greatest fractions in the Verkhovna Rada - BYuT and Party of Regions suggest to elect the head of state in parliament.
According to information in the press, the corresponding norm is already recorded in the project of changes in the Constitution, prepared behind closed doors representatives of these political forces.
