As the acting as the head of department of verification of the General Staff of Armed forces of Ukraine the colonelreportedPyotr Kanonik, nine officers were a part of multinational inspection group - experts in the field of control over conventional arms. Nine people are most admissible quantity according to the international document, reports the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
"In the work coped with the Ukrainian experts inspectors counted military equipment and arms which falls under validity, recorded data in reporting documents which vised signatures on completion of all necessary procedures", - the colonelexplained inspection procedurePyotr Kanonik.
According to him, the integral component of inspection was represented by bilateral briefings - entrance, before the equipment review, and on completion of check of the declared place.

The contract on usual armed forces in Europe (CFE) - one of the major documents in the field of control over conventional arms also is a big step on a way of strengthening of the world and the European safety.
The contract on usual armed forces in Europe was signed on November 19, 1990 in Paris by plenipotentiaries of sixteen states - participants of NATO (Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the USA, Turkey and France) and six states - participants of the Warsaw Treaty Organization (Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, the USSR and Czechoslovakia) and came into force on November 9, 1992.
The contract established balance of forces of the states - participants of two voyenno - the political unions at lower level, at the same time limiting possibilities of placement of their conventional arms along the contact line between blocks and interfering, thus, with potential creation for sudden attack and conducting large-scale offensive actions in Europe.
After collapse of the USSR and Czechoslovakia number of the states - participants of the Contract increased to 30.
The contract signed by the former Soviet Union, was ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on July 1, 1992. The period of reduction of quantity of arms and military equipment came to the end in our state on October 31, 1995. In Kiev in the presence of the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, military attaches of many European states, and also inspection group of Great Britain, the ceremony of elimination of the last tank which fell under reduction took place.
The present stage is characterized by Contract adaptation, work concerning its reduction in compliance to modern conditions. Ukraine thus has exclusive interest to adaptation and pays it considerable attention as after disintegration of the Union received six restrictive areas which acted on four different territories, in particular, "the flank area", the former Kiev military district, Odessa region.
Process of adaptation of the CFE it was successfully embodied by signing in Istanbul on November 19, 1999 Agreements concerning Contract adaptation.The main directions of adaptation of the Contract is evolution of arms limitations and military equipment, viewing of functioning of the Contract in modern conditions, regulation of placement of foreign armies, monitoring system and exchange of information improvement.
On September 21, 2000 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the Agreement concerning CFE adaptation.
