The president of Ukraine Victor YUSHCHENKO urges representatives of local governments to remain independent of other authorities.
As the correspondent of the UNIAN reports, he declared it at meeting with chairmen of village and settlement councils.
According to V. Yushchenko, the most important is that all chairmen of village, settlement, city councils remained apolitical and independent.
"You have to be self-sufficient", - the President told.
According to him, about 50 million UAH which the government plans to allocate for financing of Association of representatives of local government, are actually political bribe.
V. Yushchenko urged chairmen of village and settlement councils not to give in on such "tips", having noted that thus them want to make dependent, want to organize a peculiar party which would serve certain political interests.
V. Yushchenko added that the specified means is actually means of the most local government.
