The plenipotentiary ambassador of the Russian Federation in Ukraine Victor Chernomyrdin declares that in the future Russia can refuse use of the gas transmission system of Ukraine for gas transportation to Europe.
He told about it in interview to the Russian Vesti channel.
"But if the question rises so further, we in general can bypass Ukraine. If they want it - they will achieve it. They are very close today to remaining with the gas transmission system in private, with the scrap metal earthed", - Victor Chernomyrdin declared, speaking about prospects of construction of new gas pipelines bypassing Ukraine.
He also noted that statements of the Ukrainian politicians that Russia has no gas for deliveries to Europe, aren't true.
"Who tells it? They haven't enough brains if they tell such things! At itself it is necessary to look. It isn't necessary to look in others pockets, it isn't necessary to climb there where you absolutely understand nothing … Everything, than we have - ours. We for the next hundred years are provided", - Victor Chernomyrdin told.
As it was reported earlier, on January 17 the president of Russia Dmitry Medvedev following the results of the "gas" summit in Moscow declared that construction of roundabout pipelines doesn't mean that the Ukrainian gas transmission system won't be used for gas transit to Europe.
At the same time he noted that the interested countries have to think of diversification of deliveries of energy carriers, even in spite of the fact that occurs today in a question of transit of gas.
According to him, exactly it is for this purpose planned to construct Nord Stream and South Stream gas pipelines.
