The president Victor Yushchenko predicts deepening of an economic crisis if "the government and is occupied further only with populism". He declared it in interview to the German mass media, reports a press - service of the head of state.
Answering a question, whether the default threatens Ukraine, V. Yushchenko told: "The answer consists in that, our budgetary policy will be how strong. As far as it will be realistic. How ambitious. And the main thing - how balanced will be the budget. Whether we will be able to conduct the strong, weighed policy? By these things will be defined, whether we will be able to fulfill the obligations".
According to him, in this question there are also political factors. "I am absolutely convinced that the prime minister - the minister (Yulia Timoshenko) made presidential election a priority. This year, 2009 is time when we have to prepare a strong anti-recessionary package (laws)", - he told.
"Look at Europe - anti-recessionary programs everywhere take root... and only in three countries: China, India and in Ukraine, as before, growth plans are put... I won't try to do any remarks concerning China or India, but the such economic plan for Ukraine... is inadequate and irresponsible, utopian and nonprofessional", - the President noted.
On his belief, "if we will take the correct responsible steps, there will be no problems - we will be able to overcome this crisis". "But if the government and is occupied further only with populism, toys in policy, economic result also will be, but absolutely another", - the head of state emphasized.
