The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine plans to consider on March 19 the bill concerning modification of the Constitution regarding extension of a term of office of mayors of the cities, the rural and settlement chairmen elected on local elections in 2006.
The corresponding agreement was reached today during meeting with representatives of local governments with participation of the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Vladimir Litvin and the prime minister - the minister of Ukraine Yulia Timoshenko.
Besides, in the same day BP will consider changes in the Budgetary code, bills concerning association of local governments and change in the law on local taxes and fees.
The parliament also plans to consider bills concerning changes in the law on a gaming and on a real estate tax.
Today Tymoshenko suggested to prolong a term of office of mayors of the cities and rural chairmen.
"Now crisis of such scale that if we will strengthen it large-scale comprehensive national elections on all branches of the power, that, I am afraid that the country can carry", - told Tymoshenko.
She reported that representatives of BYuT prepared changes in the Constitution of Ukraine regarding prolongation of term of activity of mayors and rural, settlement chairmen from 4 to 5 years.
Thus she noted that in transitional provisions of changes in the Constitution has to be written down that it concerns chairmen of the cities and the villages chosen in March, 2006.
According to article 141 of the Basic law, the structure of village, settlement, city, regional, regional council includes deputies who are elected inhabitants of the village, the settlement, the city, the area, area on the basis of general, equal, a direct suffrage by ballot for a period of five years.
Territorial communities on the basis of general, equal, a direct suffrage by ballot choose for a period of four years according to rural, the settlement and city chairman who heads executive body of council and presides over its meetings.
