The ministry of transport and communication of Ukraine involves the only Ukrainian Zaporozhye submarine in performance of regular passenger traffic between Sevastopol and Batumi (Georgia). The relevant decision was made on March 31 at meeting of Public administration of sea and river transport, reports today a press - Ministry service.
"The repair work provided by the program of restoration and reconstruction of the boat "Zaporozhye" on Nikolaevsk ship-repair plant, is almost complete. The Zaporozhye team is created from the former military - submariners, it already passed retraining on modern exercise machines in Stockholm and is ready to an exit in the sea. We hope that in this crisis time "Zaporozhye" will be able to provide itself with the means necessary for purchase of expensive French electronic equipment for oceanologic expeditions. Unfortunately, we couldn't find investors for this project therefore decided two years to operate the boat not on the direct purpose", - the director of Ukrmorrechflot Vladimir Rabotnev reported.
The beginning of operation of "Zaporozhye" is planned for the first decade of May. The commercial management and loading will be carried out by ferry agency "Ukrferri".
Submarines are actively used for passenger traffic in transport and tourist branches in such countries, as Argentina, Canada, Cyprus, Colombia, Thailand, Chile, etc.
